Gail Lovely “Tech Keys: Opening Doors to Literacy”

September 22, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Snazzy tech toys to teach reading skills? You bet! Widely used to engage kids in science and math instruction, technology such as robots, coding, and augmented reality apps are gaining traction as early literacy teaching tools, too. Educational technology expert Gail Lovely shares the latest research-based knowledge on this subject and suggests specific, developmentally-appropriate gadgets and apps for your little learners. From flashcards that function a whole lot like Pokémon Go to kid-friendly robots that teach sequencing and symbolic thinking, you’ll come away with a great list of tech tools for building literacy skills that you can start using right away in the classroom or at home.

Lovely, a former teacher and administrator, works with school systems and educational institutions to integrate technology into their learning environments. Her clients include PBS and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
