“Flattening the Curve of the Emotional Roller-Coaster: Managing Stress and Anxiety in the Family During COVID 19”
As we get started in this new and very unique 2020-2021 school year, we invite you to join us for a much-needed discussion regarding coping with the “new normal.” In this virtual presentation for D103 parents, Dr. Caroline Adelman will help us to better understand the cognitive and emotional impacts of prolonged stress and uncertainty, and will share her expertise and guidance on managing stress and anxiety in our families during these unprecedented times.
Dr. Adelman completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships at the Child Study Center at Yale University. Prior to establishing Chicago Psychotherapy, Dr. Adelman worked on the clinical staff and teaching faculty at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. She has also served part-time as the Director of Student Wellness at a private Montessori school in Chicago, and continues to consult with schools around the country on issues related to student wellness. Dr. Adelman has been on the adjunct teaching faculty of the Counseling Program at Northwestern University since 2013. In her clinical practice, Dr. Adelman specializes in evidence-based treatment of Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Mood Disorders across the lifespan. She practices a range of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Family Systems Therapy, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and Parent Management Training.
